Job Description
Structural Engineering Technicians work as part of the design and construction team and work with other professionals in the teams on the construction plans.
They use CAD to develop the design ideas as well as investigating the properties of construction materials and the most suitable ones for the project.
They may also assist in the inspection of unsafe buildings and may make recommendations on options for repair or demolition.
Entry Routes and Competencies Required
BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) or Higher National Certificate (HNC) or a Foundation Degree
- 3 - 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at A* - C (or numerical equivalent) including English, Maths and Science
Salary Range
Salaries vary depending on experience, the company and location of the job. However, per year, you could expect to earn:
- Newly trained Technician - £14,500 - £18,000
- Trained Technician with experience - £18,000 - £28,000
- Senior or Chartered Technician - £28,000 - £36,000
