Nigel joined Surrey Fire and Rescue Service in 1991 and served operationally at all ranks up to and including Group Commander. This saw him head up the Business Fire Safety department within the Service. His career has seen Nigel specialise in fire investigation and fire safety, including achieving a Fire Engineering Degree and a Diploma as a fire safety inspecting officer. Nigel has also held ‘expert witness’ status in multiple prosecutions for the Fire and Rescue Authority. He also holds a Certificate in Education and Training, as well as assessor qualifications.
