States that plant area allowances should incorporate sufficient space to permit the successful installation of the plant, and to allow on- going inspection and maintenance tasks to be conducted safely and efficiently. Provides guidance on suitable space and weight allowances for different plant items incorporating space for maintenance and installation. The space and weight required by the different plant items has been related to the output capacity of the plant. Concludes by noting that for a given duty there may be a wide variation in the space and weight required between the various manufacturers' equipment. The lines presented are best fits to the manufacturers' data obtained.
