Weather louvre performance testingApril 2006

BSRIA has the only independent testing facility in Europe, and is one of two in the world, to test weather louvres against EN13030.

The test at BSRIA is based on a method that realistically simulates the actual operating conditions that a louvre will undergo when installed.

This is achieved using rain, ventilation and simulated wind speed.

Special applications and standard louvre testing

The louvre test provides a verifiable evidence of a louvre's ability to keep out water when installed. The test can establish water rejection performance over a wide range of conditions and it is used for:

  • Product development purposes
  • Standard testing and certification
  • Special project application.

Louvres that are manufactured for specific construction projects are tested to EN13030 in order to:

  • Validate the louvre performance before installation
  • Assess performance of louvers with architectural features.

Tests can be carried out on louvres that are intended for either buildings or for marine and offshore applications.
