BSRIA has incorporated the recently released BSRIA Guide BG 80/2022 Statutory Compliance Inspection Checklist as part of the ongoing compliance management of the building services on its premises. Designed to help facilities managers navigate the many regulations that govern their buildings, the guide explains the various requirements that apply to them.
Following the checklist criteria outlined in the guide, the BSRIA premises were assessed, and the outputs and notes contained in the spreadsheet communicated across the facilities management team.
The spreadsheet in the guide provides a breakdown of the checks and inspections required by legislation, approved codes of practice and/or supporting guidance. It is organised by building services system. Identification of the 14 building services systems and 90 tasks applicable to BSRIA's premises was further simplified by the editable spreadsheet.
Mark Pettitt, BSRIA Facilities Manager, said “BG 80/2022 has proven to be an extremely valuable mechanism for assessing and validating the checks and inspections of the building services systems across our premises. Having the ability to edit the spreadsheet for the applicable systems and tasks ensures only the relevant activities are listed. As each task references the relevant legislation and/or supporting guidance, the spreadsheet has become a pivotal tool for monitoring our ongoing compliance. Through this process, opportunities for management system improvement have also been identified”.
