Building Information Modelling updatesApril 2011

The use of BIM is gathering pace, and, in early summer, Paul Morrell is due to report in detail on the plans that the government has for encouraging the uptake of BIM. BSRIA members have been asking "How do I do it?" "Where do I start?"

But we need help here at BSRIA in narrowing these questions down.

We are holding a meeting on Monday 16th May at 11.00 to look at the services we should offer to meet your needs. Please can you join us then? Or if you cannot come, we would be interested in your input by email before the meeting. For those already involved in the meeting about BG6 that afternoon, we have timed this general discussion so that you can also get to the BG6 meeting without an extra journey. To come to the meeting or to provide input before it, please email anne.king@bsria.co.uk.

Other things that are going on:

  • CIRIA's Construction Productivity Network has a meeting on Understanding how BIMM works in practice workshop in London on 12 May 2011
  • We are in touch with CIBSE through their BIM committee where they are looking at the development of objects for a BIM, and other possible publications
  • We will again be promoting a BIM conference - BIM 2011 in the autumn (October 19th) , this time with the Institution of Civil Engineers and others
