BSRIA extends scope of UKAS accreditation for fan coil unit testing June 2022

BSRIA is delighted to announce it has extended its scope of UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation to include fan coil unit testing in accordance with BS EN 1397:2021 Heat exchangers. Hydronic room fan coil units. Test procedures for establishing the performance, which supersedes the 2015 version of the standard.

BSRIA provides thermal performance testing in heating and cooling mode, as well as airflow performance testing for all types of fan coil units.

Testing takes place in an environmentally controlled chamber where clients can observe the live results and witness the testing process in person or remotely. It can be carried out at standard conditions, site specific conditions or other bespoke requirements. Testing can be used to validate a clearly defined specification, or can be flexible to support product development needs.

Mark Roper, Head of Laboratory, BSRIA Research, Investigations & Test, said: ‘By extending the scope of our UKAS accreditation, we are able to further strengthen our portfolio of accredited testing activities while meeting the needs of the built environment. Our accreditation assures our clients that they are getting internationally recognised quality test data.’

UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality, and performance capability of these evaluators.
