BSRIA North launch ceremony & ribbon cutting!September 2017

June Davis Business Manager - North

BSRIA North launch ceremony will be staged on Friday 20th Friday October at 12:30 pm for the official opening of its new office in Preston.

The event is by invitation only and will be attended by approximately 25 senior staff from building owner operators, contactors, consultants and manufacturers. The launch will provide an excellent opportunity for active debate and networking.

It will offer you a chance to meet with Julia Evans, BSRIA Chief Executive and June Davis, BSRIA Business Manager, North of England.

BSRIA North will service BSRIA members and the wider industry based in the north of England and the opportunities created by the “northern powerhouse”.

Agenda

12.30 Ribbon cutting – Dr Michele Lawty-Jones, Director Lancashire Skills Hub

13.00 Arrival of Seema Kennedy MP, South Ribble

Buffet lunch & networking

13.00 Tour of building (optional)

BSRIA’s 2017 programme of training courses will now run for the first time from its Preston premises. Supported by BSRIA’s industry-renowned technical guides, these courses range from ‘introductions’ for non-engineers or those new to the industry through to specialist training for practitioners.

This follows on from the appointment of June Davis as its Business Manager in January 2016 and her team of a laboratory manager and technicians.

The launch comes hot-on-the-heels of the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, recently convening the government’s first meeting with all three Metro Mayors from the North of England, to discuss boosting growth across the “northern powerhouse” regions.

Employment across the Northern Powerhouse is currently at a record high (73.8 per cent) and government aims to continue to support the region through devolution and investment – including record amounts in transport, alongside support for skills and innovation.

The Chancellor is clear the “northern powerhouse” will have a key role in the Industrial Strategy and efforts to ensure Britain makes the most of the opportunities ahead as the UK leave the EU.
