BSRIA Airtightness expands UK regional presenceMarch 2007

It is now nine months since the Building Regulations 2006 became law. One of the key features of the Regulations is that it is now a legal requirement to test a new building for airtightness. The only exceptions are for small commercial buildings (below 500m2) where an alternative is to assume an air permeability of 15m3/(h.m2), and in housing where only a sample of dwellings needs to be tested.

To meet the growing demand for testing, BSRIA now operates from four locations in the UK - Bracknell, Swansea, St Helens and Belfast. The extensive fleet of fan rovers, supported by state of the art blower door technology for rapid assessment of airtightness in smaller buildings, provides a nationwide 24/7 service to construction companies.

Announcing the addition of the latest base at St Helens, Andrew Eastwell, BSRIA's Chief Executive explained "St Helens is an excellent location for us. The North West is a major development area. We can now ensure that clients here get a high level of local service to help them construct airtight buildings to meet the requirements of the Building Regulations."
