Job Description
BIM Managers are the interface between designers, owners and Facilities Management. They define the content required in order for a model to achieve its long term goals.
BIM Managers are responsible for working with the design software and provide training in the relevant software’s to interested parties.
They may also be involved in the purchasing of the hardware necessary for construction and the production of a template for the design phase.
Entry Routes and Competencies Required
Degree
- Degree in subjects such as: Construction, Built Environment, Architecture or similar
- Postgraduate qualifications are also available
- A-Level (or equivalent) requirements may be up to A*AA depending on your choice of subject
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in roles such as Project Management may be necessary
Salary Range
Salaries vary depending on experience, the company and location of the job. However, per year, you could expect to earn:
- Newly trained Manager - £20,000 - £30,000
- Trained Manager with experience - £30,000 - £50,000
- Senior or Chartered Manager - £50,000 - £80,000
Professional Qualifications and Career Development
Opportunities to progress into roles such as Partner, Managing Director or Consultant are available.
It is also possible to work towards becoming chartered with professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB), the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or other relevant bodies.
