Contact BSRIA

Recruitment, retention and skills shortages are some of the key issues affecting construction and engineering sector.

BSRIA is a long-time campaigner in addressing these issues and recognises the need to engage young people and improve diversity and the perception of the industry.

To coincide with BSRIA’s 60th anniversary in 2015, we began the INSPIRE programme, championing the fulfilling professional careers available in construction and engineering with a focus on tomorrow’s engineers. We continue to do this through:

  • Working with local schools and colleges through talks, work experience placements and engineering challenges
  • Engaging with our University sector members to improve awareness of membership information benefits and guest lectures to their students
  • Employing an intern each summer to research and produce a publication focusing on a relevant topic
  • Introducing apprenticeship programmes covering a range of engineering disciplines at BSRIA
  • Holding Young Engineers’ network events for young staff at BSRIA member companies, including tours of interesting, high-tech and unusual buildings
