How to Access BSRIA Digital Documents

About Our New Secure Publications Viewer

To help you get the best out of BSRIA’s secure digital publications, we have included some FAQs that you may find useful below. These cover a range of common queries, such as offline access, device limits, printing capabilities, and common troubleshooting steps.

Where can I access my document?

After purchasing a BSRIA publication, you will receive your own secure personal access link. Simply click the link in your confirmation email to open your publication.

You can also find all your digital publications at any time by signing in to your BSRIA account and visiting "My Orders". This area keeps all your purchased titles in one place, making it easy to return to them whenever you need.

Can I add annotations to my publication?

Yes, our online viewer includes a powerful set of annotation tools built directly into the viewer toolbar.

You can easily personalise your publication using:

  • A wide choice of pen styles, colours, and thicknesses
  • Text notes (similar to Sticky Notes in Adobe Acrobat or Comments in Microsoft Word)
  • Shapes such as circles and boxes to mark key areas
  • Search across your own notes and comments

All annotations are automatically saved and stored privately for your personal use only. This makes it easy to highlight important sections, add reminders, or mark up technical details while keeping everything securely tied to your individual access.

Can I view my publication offline?

Yes, publications marked "View Online" can be saved for offline access for up to 14 days. This is ideal for:

  • Travel
  • On‑site work
  • Locations with limited internet
  • Quiet, focused reading without connectivity

To save it for offline use:

  • Open the publication in the secure viewer
  • Click the "Save for offline use" icon at the top‑right of the viewer toolbar
  • The content will begin downloading to your browser’s memory/cache
  • When the save process is complete, keep the window or tab open
  • You can now safely disconnect from the internet and continue reading your publication offline

When you go back online, the viewer will automatically refresh your access so you can continue using your publication without interruption.

Can I print my publication?

Printing is not available for secure online publications. To protect copyright and prevent unauthorised sharing, printing, including printing to PDF, is disabled.

We understand some customers prefer to work from printed copies, so we’ve designed the viewer to work well on tablets and larger mobile devices for comfortable reading, note‑taking, and offline access. If you need to reference content during meetings or site visits, the 14‑day offline mode is a good alternative to printing.

Can I request a PDF file version instead?

At the moment, we’re not able to provide PDF copies of publications delivered via the secure viewer. This helps us protect BSRIA’s intellectual property and ensures fair, consistent access for all customers.

You’ll still be able to use your publication flexibly, including viewing it: on up to three personal devices offline for up to 14 days with your own annotations saved securely.

Why does the viewer show an error or a blank screen?

Sometimes the viewer may not load correctly, which can result in:

  • A blank page
  • A loading bar that never finishes
  • An error such as "The worker has encountered an error" or "error loading document"
  • A blocked message by your company's firewall policy

These issues can occur for a variety of reasons, for example:

  • A browser setting
  • Your company's access or filtering policies
  • A browser extension or add‑on
  • Network restrictions, such as a blocked port 443 request
  • Or simply a temporary loading issue

If the issue continues, your IT team may need to check that the viewer website is allowed through the firewall and that traffic over HTTPS (port 443) is not being filtered or blocked. All our viewer services operate over secure HTTPS on port 443.

Websites/Domains that may need to be allowed:

  • view.bsria.com
  • img.bsria.com
  • (or ideally *.bsria.com)

These domains must be accessible for the DRM viewer to work correctly.

Is this safe to unblock?

Yes. All BSRIA sub‑domains use secure HTTPS encryption, and our document viewer is powered by our trusted DRM partner. Allowing or unblocking these URLs is safe and required for viewing purchased digital documents.

We approved www.bsria.com already - why isn’t that enough?

Our DRM viewer system runs on a separate secure service. Even though you purchased the guide on www.bsria.com, the actual document is displayed via view.bsria.com, which must be approved separately.

Device Limits

To protect your personal access and prevent account sharing, each user can view their purchased publications on up to three devices.

Once the limit is reached, additional devices cannot be authorised, and the viewer will show "Exceeded Device Limit", "We couldn’t verify your access.", or a similar message indicating that your device limit has been reached

How can I resolve this?

Simply open the publication on a device you previously used and authorised, and it will work normally.

Why is there a device limit?

The limit helps safeguard your personal licence and prevents unauthorised sharing of publications. This ensures fair use and protects BSRIA’s copyrighted materials.
