BSRIA is a UKAS accredited laboratory for acoustic testing to BS EN ISO 3741, BS EN 12102 and BS EN ISO 354 and our acoustic testing services include:

  • Determination of sound power levels
  • Determination of sound absorption
  • Determination of vibration levels

Our specialist thermal acoustic facility is a 210m3 reverberation chamber with control of thermal parameters. The thermal acoustic facility is capable of testing a range of products including:

  • Air source and ground source heat pumps
  • Air curtains
  • Oil-fired boilers
  • Pumps
  • Sound absorbing materials – e.g. tiles, ceiling panels, floor coverings

Testing can also be carried out on site, including factories, offices, and schools, in order to measure noise and/or vibration levels in accordance with standards and guidelines including:

  • BB93 – Acoustic Design of Schools
  • BS 8233 – Guidance on sound insulation and noise reduction for buildings
  • CIBSE Guide B4 – Noise and vibration control for building services systems
  • Performance specifications for individual buildings
  • BS EN ISO 11546 – Determination of sound insulation performances of enclosures
  • BS 5288 - Code of practice for noise and vibration control on construction and open sites
