Structured cabling market: a year of recoveryJune 2022

In 2021 the global market increased by 13% to USD 6.98 billion for the 38 countries covered in BSRIA’s world study for structured cabling. That equates to a marginal increase compared to the market value in 2019. Growth was generally highest in countries that suffered most in 2019, such as Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Canada, US, France, UK, Spain and SEA, while India and Australia did not recover.

Overall, the global structured cabling market declined by 10% in 2020 measured in USD. The worst-hit markets were India and Brazil, followed closely by Canada. Many countries experienced decreases of 10-15% and only a few such as China, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium, and Germany did reasonably well.

2021 Structured cabling sales compared to 2019, USD

The increase in market value in 2021 was fuelled by price increases, which affected the markets unevenly, with price upturns varying from a few percentage points to 20-30%.

However, the picture is very different if we look at the amount of copper cable sold measured by volume, with only Sweden, China and Spain exceeding their 2019 sales. The US performed reasonably well, only a few percent below 2019. Most countries are 10-15% below 2019 sales.

The BSRIA World Overview covering 38 countries and 16 country reports was published in March/April 2022.
