In 2021, China's economy recovered from the pandemic and grew by 8.1% from the previous year. The added value of industries increased by 9.6% over the previous year, of which the manufacturing sector grew by 9.8%.
With the implementation of a series of policies to expand domestic demand and promote consumption, the consumer market has steadily recovered, and the bathroom industry has also recovered. In 2021, the sales value of China's bathroom market reached 130 billion yuan (incl.tap & mixers, sanitary wares, shower enclosure, bathtub, and bathroom cabinet), with a year-on-year growth of more than 5%. However, it should be noted that market growth was largely driven by the rise in product prices. Therefore, from the perspective of sales volume, the bathroom market has not achieved rapid growth, and the situation is still severe.
From the point of view of product type, ceramic sanitary ware accounts for a relatively high proportion and it is still rising as user consumption increases. Tap & mixers, bathroom cabinets and shower enclosure’s market sizes are relatively close and maintain stable development. Bathtubs have the smallest market share and are gradually being replaced by shower enclosures.
