Date: 5th November 2020

This event continues the Network’s focus on how the Soft Landings approach can help the built environment industry to meet its ‘Net Zero’ commitments by ensuring that the required outcomes for a net-zero carbon building are achieved.

Delegates will benefit from hearing two insightful speakers, both leaders in the field of building performance:

  • Alasdair Donn, Head of Building Performance, Group Sustainability, at Wilmot Dixon, will discuss Delivering on Building Performance: Measurement & verification on Soft Landings projects.  A key element of the application of Soft Landings to improving building performance is measurement, verification and improvement of key metrics such as operational energy usage and carbon emissions. Achieving low energy and net zero carbon buildings in operation, not just as design & built, is what really matters - case studies on different sector projects will show how the Energy SynergyTM approach can support Soft Landings delivering programmes.

  • Lee Hargreaves, Associate Director of Building Environments at Buro Happold, will discuss Decarbonisation of the existing built environment: Strategies and solutions. How do we approach the challenge of decarbonisation of the existing built environment? Lee Hargreaves from Buro Happold will discuss recent project approaches,  strategies and solutions some that align with normal design approaches for new build projects. And areas of analysis that may be needed at briefing and concept stages that could support existing buildings to rapidly reduce energy and carbon.

This is an excellent opportunity to get up-to-date with the latest thinking by learning from two of the built environment industry’s top minds.
