BSRIA has partnered with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to host a free webinar on the critical issue of cyber security in the built environment. Whether you’re in building design, installation, construction, facilities management, or the manufacture of building services products and components, this webinar will provide valuable information about the cyber security threats facing your organisation and how you can protect against them.

Incorporating technology within buildings produces data, and the construction industry is now realising the value of this data.

This includes personal information, building management data, and networked appliances among many others. The trend looks set to continue as data is used increasingly to improve planning and design decisions, validation and commissioning, energy efficiency and usage… the list goes on.

Hackers are keen to open the digital-vault and cyber-attacks have shaken organisations and industries around the globe. As our industry acquires more data about buildings and their usage, the more cyber-resilient they will need to be.

Therefore, BSRIA is hosting a free webinar on this critical issue and we are delighted to have as our guest speaker the NCSC.

Launched in 2016, the NCSC supports priority organisations and industries in the UK. When incidents do occur, the NCSC provide incident response to minimise harm. One of its aims is to understand the cyber security environment and distil this knowledge into practical guidance that they make available to all.

The free webinar will:

  • Provide an overview of cyber security and the type of threats faced by the construction industry.
  • Provide details of two upcoming NCSC guidance documents:
  1. Code of Practice for Cyber Security in the Built Environment. Targeted at anyone who owns or occupies a building that has electronic or computer-based operating systems – Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Controls, Building Automation Control Systems, CCTV etc.
  2. Construction Industry Guide for Cyber Security. Targeted at the construction supply chain, this guide is for SME’s – many of whom operate in supply chains and are increasingly viewed by hackers as more susceptible targets for cyber-attacks.
