Electrical systems in buildings are safety-critical. When they’re not designed, maintained and installed properly, people in and around buildings are put at risk of fire, burns and electric shock. For these reasons, legislation is in place to protect people. In recent years, innovative electrical systems have been introduced into buildings, and more attention has been paid to the energy efficiency of electrical systems. This webinar introduces some of the legislation governing electricity use in buildings in England, such as Part P of the Building Regulations and the Electricity at Work Act. It also touches on the standards underpinning these regulations – primarily the IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, and supporting guidance published by IET, HSE and others.
