Concept Air Trace hire kit | Smoke generator

Contact Instrument Solutions

The Concept Air Trace is battery operated generator which is able to provide small volumes of smoke making it ideal for tracing local airflows & for flow visualisation. The unit is available in two models, the standard Air Trace comes in an enamelled orange finish and the Air Trace S is in stainless steel. The Air Trace S variant has been developed in stainless steel to cater for cleanrooms & controlled environments.

Common customer questions & answers

QQuestion How long is the warm up time before you can use the Air Trace?
AAnswer There is no warm up time - once the battery is inserted the led will go green the unit is ready to use.
QQuestion What is the battery run time for the Concept Air Trace (battery life)?
AAnswer On high output expect 10–12 minutes from the battery, and on low output 15–20 minutes approximately.
QQuestion How many batteries will the Air Trace come with ?
AAnswer There are 2 battery packs.
QQuestion I see the unit comes with 0.5l of air trace smoke fluid - how long will this last for?
AAnswer The unit only uses 2cc of liquid a minute; the reservoir capacity is 110cc, which should last for 55mins. A 0.5litre bottle of fluid potentially lasts for over 4 hours.
QQuestion Does BSRIA supply extra smoke fluid for the Concept Air Trace?
AAnswer You can request additional 500ml of smoke fluid with your hire request; these will be sent on a Sale or Return basis and you will only be billed if they are opened for use.
QQuestion Should I disable smoke detectors/fire alarms for carrying out a smoke test?
AAnswer Even artificial smoke (if in dense enough conditions) will trigger ionisation / optical, aspirating (eg. VESDA) or video smoke detection systems. "Rate of temperature increase" detectors would not be activated by artificial smoke. These smoke generators are often used by professionals for smoke detector testing!
