This set contains two BSRIA guides relating to residential buildings, and CIBSE’s Technical Memorandum on Good Practice in the Design of Homes


This set of three guides provides important information for those involved in the procurement, design, construction and management of residential developments.

CIBSE TM60 Good Practice in the Design of Homes aims to help building services engineers and other professionals working on the planning, design and construction of homes to:

  • understand and demonstrate good practice
  • understand the relevant guidance, tools and other resources available
  • contribute to delivering good practice as part of a wider design team.

BSRIA BG64/2016 Building Performance Evaluation in Domestic Buildings explains how to use Building Performance Evaluation (BPE) to address issues of inefficiency and poor comfort in domestic buildings. It is a general introduction to BPE, and explains why it is important and how it can be carried out.

BSRIA's Domestic Ventilation Systems - guidance for measuring airflow rates (BG46/2015) provides provides advice on types of ventilation systems, performance requirements, design and installation, airflow measurement – conditional, unconditional and minimum benchmark methods, testing and commissioning.
