The day will take the form of a facilitated workshop. Following an initial update of the new BG6 key concepts, most of the day will involve the examination of practical project scenarios from the viewpoints of designers, contractors and clients
This workshop will be of interest to delegates who already have a basic knowledge of the current version and/or previous versions of the BG6 Design Framework.
The day will take the form of a facilitated workshop. Following an initial update of the new BG6 key concepts, most of the day will involve the examination of practical project scenarios from the viewpoints of designers, contractors and clients.
Detailed case studies will be used to expose delegates to the often conflicting considerations experienced by these groups, and what practical steps need to be taken to resolve issues.
The day will concentrate on “the importance of seeing things from the other side.”
The workshop will be of interest to designers, contractors and clients who need to understand where the other interested parties are coming from in order to negotiate good outcomes for the project as a whole.
Upon completion of this training course delegates will:
Session 1: Introduction to BG6 and its key concepts and content. The RIBA Plan of Work, the Appendix A proformas, deliverable definitions and illustrations.
Session 2.1: Introduction to the case study example. 3 versions of the case study will be used depending on the background of the delegates attending
Session 2.2: Facilitated workshop part 1. Consultant-led design up to planning application.
Session 2.3: Facilitated workshop part 2. Contractor takes over after planning
Session 2.4: Facilitated workshop part 3. Consultant leads design from planning through to feasible generic design
Session 3: Appendix B proforma, and relationship to Appendix A. Exercise to complete Appendix B for the case study project.
Session 4: Final discussion, questions.
