Flexim F601 | Ultrasonic flow and energy heat meters

Contact Instrument Solutions

The Flexim Fluxus F601 is a flexible and easy to use portable flow meter that is ideal for the support of service and maintenance activities. Fitted with a Li-Ion battery this allows for up to 14 hours of stand alone measurement.

Hire models available are include the "energy metering versions" which come with either low or high temperature range ultrasonic sensors, and the "flow only version" with low temperature ultrasonic sensors.

Sales versions are available in various standard configurations with alternative ultrasonic sensors available on request.

Please note - not suitable for use on laminated or plated piping.

Features

The FLUXUS F601 is more than just an upgrade to its successor, the FLUXUS ADM 6725, an instrument which has proven itself in thousands of applications. The numerous improvements implemented, are derived from years of application practice. Its ergonomic design offers simple handling and maximum ease of use.

New algorithms care for the correction of pipe wall echoes and a wrong transducer positioning, thus ensuring reliable and accurate measurements - even during the most demanding application conditions. Due to the new HybridTrek mode, the flow meter can also reliably and accurately measure the flow under conditions with a gaseous or solid fraction of up to 10 %.

Benefits

  • Quick and intuitive measurement - reliable results in less than 5 minutes
  • Rugged for its usage in rough industrial environments -
  • Lightweight housing
  • Fast measurement: No zero point calibration necessary thanks to Plug & Play transducer recognition (EPROM)
  • Bi-directional measurement for nearly all pipe material and nearly all liquid media
  • High accuracy due to dual-ìP technology with Digital Signal Processing and powerful correction algorithms
  • Exhaustive internal database including parameters of a huge variety of pipe materials and media
  • Memory Capacity > 100,000 measured values

Version 3. Flow only model with sensor type FSQ-NNNNL-000-FSQ-DS-CO25 which has a temperature range of -40 to +130 °C and for pipe diameters 10 to 400 mm.

**** Available as an accessory are the FSM-NNNNL-000-FSM-DS-CO55 sensors that have a temperature range of -40 to +130 °C and for pipe diameters 50 to 3400 mm ****

Important notes

Some models of ultrasonic meters are not suitable for use on various plastic materials such as Polybutylene. Please contact our Hire team if your application involves these materials for additional advice. Similarly they will not work in galvanised steel or pipes with linings and an alternative measurement technique will be needed in these applications.

The in-use accuracy of ultrasonic flow meters is subject to site conditions such as pipe dimensions, material, transducer location and mounting configuration. Reference to the manufacturer’s instructions is therefore recommended before use to ensure equipment suitability with additional guidance given in BS 8452 : 2010 - Use of clamp-on (externally mounted) ultrasonic flow-metering techniques for fluid applications – Guide.

Not suitable for use on laminated or plated piping.

Common customer questions & answers

QQuestion Where should you position the F601 transducers on pipework?
AAnswer You should mount the transducers to a section of straight horizontal pipework; this should be 5 x the diameter distance away from an upward bend and 10 x the diameter distance away from a downward bend in the pipework to get the most accurate readings.
QQuestion The FluxDiag software that is provided with the Hire Flexim 601 instrument is it capable of working with all types of Microsoft operating systems?
AAnswer Yes - The FluxDiag reader software is compatible with Windows 10 , 8 , 7 and XP. It should be noted that the previous Flexim software (FluxData) will not work on Windows 10 or on tablet PC's.
QQuestion Can the FluxDiag software run on a Windows 8 tablet or on a Windows 10 operating system?
AAnswer Unfortunately no, it will not run on a Windows 8 tablet PC, but should be able to run on both laptop and desktop machines. For Windows 10 systems these need to use the FluxDiag software V1.36.1 or higher. The latest drivers can be downloaded from the Flexim website: https://www.flexim.com/en/downloads/software (search for Fluxdiag; current software versions are 2.10.1 or higher).
QQuestion Can ultrasonic flow meters be used to check the flow rate during flushing to confirm that the minimum velocities stated in BG 29/2012 have been achieved?
AAnswer In BG 29/2012, the flushing operation is aimed at creating turbulence inside the pipework (i.e. a high Reynolds number) to remove corrosion product, scale and other deposits from internal surfaces. Ultrasonic flow meters usually provide a more accurate and stable reading in laminar flow regimes than in turbulent flow regimes. Therefore ultrasonic flow meters should not be considered as a reliable means of flow rate measurement when flushing to BG 29/2012 minimum velocities.
