The Extech HT30 meter measures and displays Heat Stress Index (WBGT), which is how hot it feels when humidity is combined with temperature, air movement, and direct or radiant sunlight. The black globe temperature (TG) monitors the effects of direct solar radiation on an exposed surface. It also measures air temperature (TA) and relative humidity (rh). Additional features include: selectable units of °F/°C, auto power off with override, and a built-in RS-232 interface with optional software.
Typical applications include workplace monitoring, training of athletes in sports arenas and the testing of environments in manufacturing plant
- Heat Stress Index (WBGT) measures how hot it feels when humidity is combined with temperature, air movement, and radiant heat
- Black Globe Temperature (TG) monitors the effects of direct solar radiation on an exposed surface
- In/Out Function displays the WBGT value with or without direct sun exposure
The HSE considers the WBGT index as an approximate indicator of heat stress. The index is defined in BS EN 27243:1994 / ISO 7243:1989.
