US Commercial Refrigeration MarketNovember 2020

Greater focus on environmental protection represents an opportunity for the US Commercial refrigeration market

BSRIA has just published its latest study on the market for Commercial Refrigeration in USA. The study provides a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the current and future market trends for refrigeration products in non-residential systems, excluding industrial applications.

The commercial refrigeration market in USA is expected to reach more than USD 2.9 billion in 2020, which amounts to a decline of 1.3% compared with the previous year. The products weighing most in terms of value include compressor racks, evaporators and remote condensers.

Compressor racks are typical in systems installed in supermarkets. Remote condensers on the other hand are used to cool food service and food retail equipment such as display cases, ice makers and cold rooms. Conventional air-cooled condensers form most of the market. The biggest segment for evaporators is the refrigerator market, followed by unit coolers for cold rooms and blast freezers. The other products analysed in this report are bare compressors, condensing units, and fluid/fluid heat exchangers.

Due to the pandemic, the refrigeration market experienced a contraction in 2020, but it is expected gradually to regain strength and return to the previous sales levels and growth rates.  This expansion in the refrigeration market is driven by the evolution of the population growth and the economic cycle. In addition, increased attention to refrigerants and efficiency, boosted by stricter regulation that is expected under the Biden presidency, are expected to inflate the market values.

Based on a mixture of primary research through detailed interviews, and use of secondary data, the report analyses each product segment separately, focusing on market sizes and characteristics, forecasts up to 2023, distribution structure and main suppliers. In addition, the main influencers and drivers in the market are scrutinised: macroeconomic background, refrigerant developments and regulations. Finally, the study assesses the structure of foreign trade, and applications for refrigeration products.
