BSRIA is currently working with industry on a programme of updates and revisions to commissioning guidance including AG 1/2001 Pre-commission Cleaning of Pipework Systems. This document concerns the process of flushing and cleaning pipework for heating and cooling systems and is widely referenced in project specifications for commercial building projects. Since the last revision in 2004, BSRIA has been made aware of various issues in pre-commission cleaning that may need clarification or additional guidance to reflect the evolution of building services technology, improve the success of the process and avoid unnecessary disputes.
In order to get the widest possible feedback, BSRIA is undertaking a process of open consultation on issues that need to be addressed in the guide. Download the consultation document/feedback form here.
Individuals and companies may respond to the consultation directly or through their representative organisations. CSA in particular is carrying out their own consultation process and details of this can be obtained through Roger Carlin (email@example.com).
The consultation period will run until the end of November after which the feedback will be collated and revisions drafted in consultation with industry representatives. Our intention is to arrive at a complete draft of the revised guide by the end of March 2010.
