POE is key to excellent procurementNovember 2012

An all-party parliamentary group has called for post-occupancy evaluation (POE) to be made mandatory.

The All Party Group for Excellence in the Built Environment has issued A Better Deal for Public Building, which recommends POE is carried out on all public sector projects valued above £5 million.

The Group, chaired by Sir Tony Baldry MP, believes that POE will "help determine good and bad design practice".

Other key recommendations include the creation of a Best Practice Procurement Advisory Group to assist inexperienced public sector to adopt appropriate procurement arrangements. The APPG also supports the use Soft Landings and phased handover to improve commissioning.
