BSRIA staging Wellbeing Event in ManchesterMarch 2019

Dr Michelle Agha-Hossein Building Performance Lead

BSRIA is staging an event on Wellbeing, as part of its Wellbeing Network, which will examine the issues around “happy and healthy staff” on Friday 29th March in Manchester.

A business’s most valuable asset is the staff. As such, forward thinking companies are putting greater importance on the health and wellbeing of their staff and creating environments that allow them to thrive both professionally and personally. This is central to ensuring a company remains efficient and profitable.

The Building 4 Wellbeing Network event will examine a number of aspects that industry needs to be aware of:

  • Wellness Matters: a guide published by The British Council for Offices.
  • The WELL Building Standard.
  • Overheating.
  • The role of Facilities Managers in maintaining wellbeing.
  • BSRIA’s strategy for supporting the industry in this area.

Dr Michelle Agha-Hossein, Building Sustainability Consultant, BSRIA, said:

“A large part of our life is spent indoors and it is generally accepted that there is a direct link between occupants’ health and productivity. So, getting it right is one of the key factors in giving an organisation a competitive advantage while putting the best interests of their staff first.

The importance of employee wellbeing has attracted more attention recently as organisations try to adopt practices that can help them to increase their energy efficiency while optimising the productivity of their staff. And increase its retention of staff. It is now generally accepted that if an employee’s wellbeing reduces, her/his productivity will typically reduce as well.

So: workplaces should not only be environmentally friendly but should also be user friendly.

We urge you to book on to this unmissable event now!”
