“These awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise innovation in commissioning. Especially at a time when the construction industry is looking for unique and fresh solutions to address the challenges and opportunities arising from the sector’s commitment to delivering more and better quality new homes. And in ensuring that the commissioning function in today's complex buildings is carried out to a uniformly high standard.

BSRIA supports forward thinking and these awards will provide a glimpse into what is achievable and presents a unique opportunity to celebrate the best in commissioning and delivery.

The BSRIA North Training Academy was set up in 2017 to engage, inspire and lock into local talent and develop skills for both those in business and education. To provide industry with access to local, quality training provision, a bespoke training academy was created to bring the renowned BSRIA training portfolio to the North of England. The high tech facility and new training rooms allow for practical onsite demonstrations and showcases the latest developments supporting the commissioning and building services industry.

A diverse portfolio of open training courses in building services related topics has to-date been delivered to over 100 delegates across the north.

In addition, with young people at its heart, the ‘Inspire North’ educational programme is designed to inspire the next generation to forge their careers in engineering with Enterprise Advisor support, careers advisor, teachers and school engagement activity.

BSRIA has also been active in promoting apprenticeships, working with local businesses and the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Lancashire Skills Hub, Central Lancashire Construction Skills Hub and the National Careers Service and schools and colleges to this end.

The Enterprise Advisor network is designed to match strategic leaders to schools and colleges across Lancashire and to work with the school’s leadership team to develop its approach to careers and enterprise and ultimately increase the number of employer encounters that young people experience throughout the education journey.”
