BSRIA joins 100 days of carbon clean up initiativeSeptember 2007

BSRIA has joined the 100 days of Carbon Clean up initiative organised by CIBSE. The campaign will start on the 12th September 2007, sponsored by E.ON and supported by the Carbon Trust. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness and involve organisations throughout the UK to cut carbon emissions in their buildings.

The initiative first took place in 2006 and 560 UK organisations were involved.

Nature of the programme
Carbon emissions are directly related to the use of energy (i.e. fossil fuels and electricity). The energy used can be classified in five general categories in a typical office building:

  • Lighting
  • Stationery (manufacturing and disposal process require energy)
  • Office equipment
  • Small power (microwaves, kettles)
  • Heating & cooling
