Julia Evans CEO

BSRIA would like to congratulate the winner of the BBC1 2015 series of the Apprentice, Joseph Valente, who was announced as the victor in a two-hour special on Sunday evening. Joseph scooped the £250,000 prize to grow his plumbing business. Lord Sugar, who cast the final decision, will be his business partner.

Julia Evans, Chief Executive, BSRIA, said: “We would like to applaud and acknowledge this very talented young man whose idea and energy for his plumbing business will certainly help raise the profile of the engineering and practical skills needed to build such an empire. Hopefully, this celebrated win on a recognisable television programme will help and encourage the workforce of tomorrow choose such an important and useful trade – essential for the construction industry. Plumbing is an excellent long term and rewarding career choice.

BSRIA and its members wish him well in his new venture.”

To coincide with its 60th anniversary, BSRIA recently launched its INSPIRE commemorative publication which looks at 120 engineers of the past and present to show their achievements and the great impact they’ve had on – not just the industry – but the world. To go alongside this, BSRIA has narrowed down the engineers to a list of 15 for the industry to vote on – who has been – and continues to be the most influential engineer.

To make your vote click here: influential engineer.

The survey will be open until 31st December 2015 and results will be published in early 2016.

The INSPIRE publication will be available on the BSRIA Bookshop as a free download until the closing of the survey: BSRIA Bookshop. Hard copies are limited and only available upon request.
