BSRIA Briefing 2018 - new speaker confirmedOctober 2018

BSRIA is delighted to confirm a new speaker at its flagship event – the annual Briefing and lunch: Adrian Malone, Head of Digital Project Delivery & BIM Transport & Infrastructure, WSP. Members and industry are urged to book on!

The event will look at the issue of Disruption in Construction – driving technologies and processes for the future and will be held at the Brewery, in London, on Friday 16th November 2018. The main supporter is Trend.

Adrian will present on ‘A Vision for Transport Infrastructure’. He will highlight how putting the customer at the heart of the design process and how digital technology – such as the digital twin – AI, visualisation technology and design automation can transform the delivery process. And the benefits this brings in terms of stakeholder collaboration, customer engagement and infrastructure asset delivery.

As an industry – we need to be thinking now about the infrastructure to support the increasing use of electric vehicles. Government will be phasing out combustion engine cars – reliant on fossil fuels – by 2040. What will this mean for buildings wherein charging points will be needed – for both residential and commercial buildings? Indeed: the broader issue of how vehicles interact with energy, resources and buildings, and the technology needed for this, is a hot topic.

The guest speaker is Andrew Strauss OBE.

The Chair is Oliver Zimmermann, CEO, Condair Group AG. Based in Switzerland, Oliver has been in post since 2012. Condair is an integrated, global market leader in humidification and evaporate cooling and its vision is to deliver productivity, sustainability and health through air and water to achieve extraordinary goals for a successful future.

Tracey Tilbry, Networks & Events Manager, BSRIA said:

“BSRIA is delighted that Adrian is joining the line-up of this first-class suite of speakers at its flagship and leading event in the industry calendar.

Along with the after lunch speaker, cricketing legend Andrew Strauss OBE, and chair, industry-renowned Oliver Zimmerman.

Industry is changing fast and technology and innovation is taking charge in the construction industry and BSRIA members, and industry at large, need to be one step ahead to provide better and more sustainable solutions.

The agenda will cover: changes in technologies and processes and what that might mean for the procurement of contracts, building services and manufacturing going forward, taking into consideration bitcoin, the circular economy and innovation in manufacturing.

Increasing productivity is the name of the game for 2019 and beyond. The time is ripe for ringing the changes and continuing changing build processes – with other methods of construction – namely: modern methods of construction.

The Briefing is simply unmissable with intelligence you need to know – so you don’t get left behind: book on to be part of this crusade.”

We live in a world where new inventions, processes and ideas can be a real game changer and disrupt the way do things. The internet, mobile phones and the electric car are just a few we have seen over the last few decades.

This year’s Briefing will look at the technologies and processes we might expect to see in the future and the implications that these innovations may have for building services both in the commercial and residential sector.

The Briefing starts at 9:00 am. Lunch is at 13:00: the event will close at 15.30. More detailed information on the event is available at:
