BSRIA agrees with the need for an urgent action planJuly 2015

Julia Evans CEO

In its recent Reducing emissions and preparing for climate change progress report, the Committee on Climate Change, amongst other recommendations, advised Government to:

  • Extend funding for low carbon electricity generation to 2025, to support investment and innovation and to continue cutting costs
  • Agree an action plan that delivers low-carbon heat and efficiency to allow homes to be heated for less while addressing the risks from high temperatures and flooding

“Delivering the change that is required to meet the carbon emission targets will require long term investment from industry; this will only happen if they have the confidence to do so. We need Government to act early and set out their plans. This will not only ensure that the UK stays on track to deliver on its targets but will also create opportunities for manufacturer and service industries” said Julia Evans, BSRIA’s Chief Executive.

“It is important that Government follows the advice of the committee and agrees an action plan that will deliver low-carbon heat and energy efficient homes, but it is vital that this plan includes addressing the energy performance of the existing housing stock” continued Julia.
