Leslie (Les) Dodd, aged 56 years young, married to Janice and with two children, Nathan and Ellie. Born and bred in Sunderland and now residing in Surrey for the last 13 plus years. Having joined the Fire Service in 1989 with Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue Service, undergone a significant secondment to the Fire Service College then joining Surrey Fire & Rescue Service as a Strategic Manager I have had years of progressive leadership and a firm grounding within the Training arena.
This has continued since leaving the Fire Service in February 2016 where I undertook a short term corporate contract with JP Morgan Chase in Canary Wharf, London where I managed their Incident Control Centre at Associate level. Post this, I continued my career journey and entered the learning and development field as a Trainer where I set up my own company (Les Dodd Safety Training) whilst also becoming a ‘bank trainer’ for several well-established companies; designing and delivering training packages covering all aspects of safety topics and to a wide variety of professionals.
I firmly believe in ‘providing a quality product’ which is fit for purpose and meets the needs of the intended audience. I am a Qualsafe and Highfield registered trainer and constantly keep my professional development current where I place vast emphasis on keeping the training audiences fully engaged in learning throughout any delivery.
I have backed up my ‘expertise’ in the emergency sector with recognised teaching qualifications, membership of recognised bodies and groups and currently design and deliver courses in Leadership, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, First Aid as well as bespoke courses in Moving & Handling and Asbestos Awareness.
Outside of work (if there is such a thing!) I enjoy keeping fit, am a regular gym member and enjoy the odd marathon! Charitable work and having fun with the family is also high up there on my agenda. My mantra is for every day I wake up and I am not in that wooden box in the ground I make the most of the day and try to this with a smile on my face too!
