From 1 December 2005 CE Marking of radiators, including electric radiators, and heat emitters came into force. A CE Mark can only be applied to products successfully tested to EN 442 by the Notified Body.
BSRIA is listed on NANDO as a Notified Body NB 0480 under the EU’s Construction Products Regulation (305/2011/EU-CPR) which came into force on 1st July 2013
Testing of radiators, heated towel rails, heat emitters, convector heaters, underfloor heating
In the UK, BSRIA is the leading UKAS accredited laboratory and Notified Body for:
• Standard testing to BS EN 442 for CE Marking and Kitemark
• Development of new models and design optimisation to achieve a good quality reliable product
• Measuring low surface temperature LST critical for installations where the maximum operating temperature must be controlled and to ensure compliance with the NHS Safe
Surface Temperature guidelines
• Product comparison testing and simulations
Testing and troubleshooting with expert technical advice
Our fully automated test facility enables us to accurately measure heat emissions, durability, pressure tightness and other parameters under different operating conditions
The thermal output of product can be established at various water temperatures, and characteristic equations can be calculated for models of the same type.
BSRIA maintains a reference test installation which meets the requirements of the EN442 standard. We have participated in a successful test programme to verify the reproducibility of the test values between test laboratories using a set of 'primary master radiators'.
Our expertise extends beyond testing to problem solving and expert technical advice.
Performance of electric radiators is tested at BSRIA to the BSEN standard in a controlled chamber to different temperatures, heating duty, colling loads and other conditions or to clients' specification.
