Kystyna Dawson, Senior Manager, BSRIA Worldwide Market Intelligence

BSRIA has launched its findings on the latest Traditional and Renewable Heating World Markets Analysis (May 2015) publishing 80 reports for 22 countries as part of its World Multi-Client Study.

Worldwide sales of boilers are growing, supported by positive economic developments and progressing gasification in many world heating regions. China, South Korea and Iran have represented particularly bright spots in 2014.

Krystyna Dawson, Senior Manager - Heating & Renewables, BSRIA Worldwide Market Intelligence, said: “Europe has seen a different development overall. Nearly all the main European heating markets have recorded a decrease in sales of boilers in 2014. Weak economy, efficiency requirements in the new build and uncertainty about the future in both economics and regulations have caused the consumers to adopt 'wait and see' attitude. UK, the biggest domestic boiler market worldwide, has been a bright spot of the region recording further growth, thanks to the ongoing ECO obligation program and positive economic development alike.

BSRIA WMI reports analyse the world boiler market by type of technology used, tracking the development of the most efficient products, as well as, by the end user segment and the way products are installed, both allowing to observe what type of systems are installed in the new build segment and as a replacement in existing dwellings. While in the EU area the shift towards condensing technology has already started in view of the imminent introduction of the ErP legislation in September, the remaining large boiler markets are prevalently non-condensing in both new build and replacement segment.”

Main trends in traditional heating markets, 2013 - 2017

Although the market volume is not expected to grow significantly in Europe in the years to come, the market value will increase thanks to the increasing dominance of condensing technology.

The published reports contain a comprehensive analysis of the current market as well as a five year forecast prepared based on the analysis of main market drivers and a methodology that provides a holistic approach to the market. Description of the competitive market environment is also provided that includes market shares per type of products and analysis of the distribution channels. Twenty-two countries worldwide were represented.
